Advanced Archicad: Creating a Company Template for 4D and 5D Workflows
Design a company-specific Archicad template that supports consistent modelling and prepares structured information for downstream 4D planning and 5D cost workflows.

Who this programme is for
Experienced Archicad users, BIM leads and office standards coordinators developing their own company template.
Before you start: Advanced Archicad knowledge, basic IFC exchange experience and an understanding of the organisation’s modelling and information requirements.
Learning outcomes
- Define the purpose, scope, ownership and versioning rules of a company template.
- Create a coherent attribute, classification, property and naming structure.
- Define model data for locations, work packages, quantities, cost codes and exchange requirements.
- Configure schedules and IFC mappings and validate the exported data in an agreed receiving workflow.
- Document template governance, testing and controlled updates.
Programme outline
Requirements and template architecture
Define information uses, team roles, naming conventions, project stages and a template-development plan.
Core office standards
Structure attributes, layers, favourites, views, graphic overrides, layouts and publishing rules.
Classifications and properties for 4D/5D readiness
Agree codes and properties for location, zone, work package and cost breakdown; distinguish authoring data from scheduling and estimating decisions.
Schedules, quantities and information checks
Build reusable schedules, validation views and quantity checks; identify missing or inconsistent data.
IFC mapping and downstream validation
Configure export translators and property mappings; test how the receiving planning or cost application reads the information.
Template pilot and governance
Test a pilot model, resolve issues and document deployment, ownership, version control and maintenance.
Practical assessment
A pilot company template and model exchange exercise, assessed against documented information requirements.
What you will develop
- A pilot company template structure
- A classification and property dictionary
- A tested IFC exchange checklist
- A template governance and update plan
Single-company and multi-company delivery
Available as single-company (mono-business) training or multi-company (multi-business) training. Single-company delivery is adapted to an agreed company workflow; multi-company delivery uses a common training dataset and learning objectives.
Participation, scope and delivery arrangements are agreed around the training needs and the format. The assigned trainer is confirmed for each delivery.
The template prepares model information for compatible 4D/5D software. Scheduling logic, cost databases and automation rules are configured and validated in the receiving workflow.
